Cattaneo è un tipico nome torinese ma Cattaneo ( catta è l’abbreviazione) era un artigiano costruttore di telai per biciclette con sede a Nizza (Francia).
Pochissime sono le informazioni su Cattaneo ma si sa che era attivo già dai primi anniquaranta . La particolare forcella con la punta a freccia veniva usata anche nelle biciclette Urago di alta gamma ma l’invenzione della particolare forcella appartiene a Cattaneo. Cicli Colletta ( di cui si nota l’adesivo nella bicicletta in foto) era un artigiano torinese degli anni 60-70 e costruì poche biciclette da corsa, ma con una maestria unica realizzando biciclette uniche e bellissime. Probabilmente era anche rivenditore delle bici Cattaneo della vicina Nizza.La costruzione del telaio Cattaneo risente dell’influenza dei telaisti francesi, la quale è evidente in alcune caratteristiche congiunzioni del telaio . La tecnica costruttiva era davvero elevata ed i componenti Campagnolo della bicicletta di alta gamma. La testa della forcella è particolarmente elegante ed unica in questa bicicletta.

There is very little information on Cattaneo but it is known that he was active since the early 1940s. The particular fork with the arrowhead was also used in high-end Urago bicycles but the invention of the particular fork belongs to Cattaneo. Cicli Colletta (of which you can see the sticker on the bicycle in the photo) was a Turin craftsman of the 60s and 70s and built a few racing bicycles, but with a unique skill, creating unique and beautiful bicycles. He was probably also a dealer of Cattaneo bikes from nearby Nice. The construction of the Cattaneo frame is influenced by the influence of the French frame builders, which is evident in some of the frame's characteristics. The construction technique was really high and the Campagnolo components of the bicycle were high-end. The fork head is particularly elegant and unique on this bike.
