Franco Priori, classe 1929, era detto “Pinza d'oro”. Priori aprì un negozietto in Via Bertesi , nei primi Anni Cinquanta, pieno di ragazzini con pochi soldi in tasca e tante bici rotte da sistemare prima della domenica. Tanti i consigli dati con entusiasmo a tanti campioncini che regolarmente, dopo l’allenamento, passavano da Via Bertesi. Era anche un corridore e ottenne la prima vittoria, vicino a casa, a San Nazzaro, in una gara per dilettanti. Di quanto ci sapeva fare con la pinza in mano si accorsero presto in molti e allora lo ingaggiarono subito nel team professionistico BIF, la quale fu l’unica squadra professionistica di Cremona nella storia del ciclismo.
Quando la BIF cessò l’attività il passaggio a squadre più titolate: il passo fu brevissimo. Nel 1961 passò alla Fides con Pambianco che quell’anno disputò un grandissimo Giro d’Italia vincendo davanti ad Anquetil. Subito dopo passò alla Gazzera diretta da Ferdy Kubler, lo svizzero che era stato campione del mondo,dove gareggiava il lussemburghese Cheryl Gaul vincitore anch’egli del Giro d’Italia. Poi passò alla Springoil con Nencini, Bitossi e Ciampi. Quindi alla Salvarani con Luciano Pezzi direttore tecnico e due campioni come Adorni e Gimondi,e poi alla Filotex con Bitossi. Poi fu la volta di Nencini, da direttore tecnico che lo chiamò alla Filotex con Gualazzini e Michelotto e, soprattutto sull’ammiraglia della squadra nazionale dove vinse il mondiale di Imola con Adorni. Quante avventure, quanti episodi da raccontare: una trentina di Grandi Giri tra Tour, Vuelta e Giro (17 i Giri d’Italia) Campionati del mondo su strada, ciclocross e in pista, Olimpiadi e classiche in mezzo mondo, dall’Europa al Sud America, dalla Nuova Zelanda al Marocco. Per questa sua esperienza trentennale con i campioni del ciclismo, nelle biciclette Priori c’e’ scritto “la bici dei campioni”.

Priori opened a shop in Via Bertesi, in the early fifties, in Cremona ,full of kids with little money in their pockets and many broken bikes to be placed before Sunday.
