Mario Rossin era stato uno dei migliori telaisti di Ernesto Colnago, sino al 1974, quando In collaborazione con altri apre a Cavenago Brianza la ditta che ha il suo nome. La storia di questo marchio è la seguente: nel 1973, il promettente Gibi Baronchelli del Gruppo Sportivo Iclas vince Giro d’Italia baby e Tour de France dilettanti. La Iclas, assieme alla Itla, è una squadra del patron Vittorio Ghezzi. Utilizzano biciclette fornite da Ernesto Colnago. Ghezzi e Garbelli, direttore sportivo e manager dell’Itla, vorrebbero creare un team di professionisti, soprattutto per far crescere Baronchelli e altri talenti fatti in casa. L’idea è di proseguire il sodalizio con Colnago. Ma il costruttore milanese è fornitore anche della Scic, squadra presente nel professionismo dal ’69. E, anziché favorire la nascita del nuovo team professionistico di Ghezzi con gli atleti più promettenti del vivaio Itla, Colnago agevola il passaggio di Baronchelli alla Scic. L’episodio scatena le ire di patron Ghezzi, di Inzaghi, Garbelli e altri componenti dello staff Itla. Ghezzi e Garbelli cambiano bici ai loro corridori. La prima idea è di passare alla Bianchi. In realtà Inzaghi e Ghezzi vorrebbero proporre qualcosa di nuovo. Cosi decidono di prendere Mario Rossin, che ha lavorato molti anni nel reparto saldatura di Colnago. Domenico Garbelli e Ghezzi approvano il progetto:. E il 14 settembre 1974 a Cavenago nasce ufficialmente la Rossin. I soci sono 5: Vittorio Ghezzi e il figlio Giuseppe, poi Inzaghi, Garbelli e Rossin. La Rossin negli anni settanta e ottanta produrrà biciclette particolarmente apprezzate anche dai professionisti: Oltre a Baronchelli, hanno infatti corso con bici Rossin: Roger De Vlaeminck, Vittorio Algeri, Claude Criquelion, Hennie Kuiper, Franco Ballerini, Moreno Argentin. Sarà soprattutto la testa della forcella , esile ed elegante il segno di riconoscimento dei telai Rossin. Negli anni '80 ha realizzato alcune delle biciclette da corsa più innovative ed eleganti di sempre.
